StudyManager has teamed with Allscripts to offer a system integration featuring the leading clinical trial management and EHR solutions. The integration between Allscripts Enterprise EHR (formerly TouchWorks EHR) and StudyManager is focused on facilitating patient recruitment while eliminating some of the manual data entry that is required when StudyManager is used as a stand-alone solution. The Patient Data Sync feature eliminates double-entry, updating StudyManager patient information when a corresponding Enterprise EHR patient record is changed. StudyManager's powerful patient search feature has been extended to include Enterprise EHR patients. Additionally, an on-trial flag notifies clinicians using Enterprise EHR when a patient is enrolled in a clinical trial, providing pertinent information about the Study.

The integration involves direct interoperability between the solutions without the use of Allscripts’ traditional interface tool kits — ConnectR, Integration Professional, or any HL7 interface. In order to optimize the performance of complex protocol queries between the products, the integration creates a separate database that is populated nightly with data from the main Enterprise EHR database. This enables StudyManager users to query EHR data without the risk of slowing down the transactional EHR system.
