Management Metrics for Clinical Research
The management of clinical research involves tracking and monitoring a
variety of data. The challenge is to process and make sense of the data,
improving overall effectiveness. Trends must be identified and action
taken to expand what’s working and correct what’s not – across the
entire portfolio of trials. With the advent of more sophisticated
reporting tools offered by CTMS today, the amount of data available can

About the Presenters
Matthew Lester is a Managing Director at the management
consulting firm, Huron Consulting Group. He has over 12 years of
management consulting experience focused on the management of grants and
clinical trials at the academic medical centers, health systems,
hospitals, and research institutes. Matthew has provided strategic
advice on developing and implementing clinical research offices, help to
improve clinical trials billing compliance/ Medicare coverage analysis,
assisting organizations with reducing research compliance risks and
developing improved processes for greater overall management and
efficiency at major research organizations across the US. He is a
frequent speaker on research management and compliance topics at
industry conferences including Healthcare Compliance Association,
Society of Research Administrators, Society of Clinical Research
Associates, Association of Clinical Research Professionals and others.
Neil Warnock is the Vice President of Medical Affairs
for StudyManager. Dr. Warnock possesses broad experience in medicine
from clinician to Medical Liaison, to Medical Director. He has worked in
clinical development, health economics and managed care. Dr. Warnock
has worked in all phases of clinical research across several therapeutic
areas and many different job responsibilities including clinical trial
design, physician education, patient retention, and others.
Malia McFatridge is a Senior Project Manager at StudyManager.
Ms. McFatridge has helped to manage the implementation of StudyManager
across a wide range of research sites, working with customers to
identify and meet business objectives with CTMS. She focuses on helping
customers realize CTMS as a business intelligence system, finding
creative ways to track and act on critical metrics, and to make the
research operation more efficient and effective. Prior to joining
StudyManager, Ms. McFatridge spent eight years with a research site,
followed by six years at the SMO headquarters. She’s worked in various
lab, regulatory submission, and research coordinator roles as well as
facilitating financial management of several thousand trials – from
booking revenue and AR and processing stipend checks, to reporting
budget and enrollment trends.
